Did you say "No" on the 2006 Census? -You Can Reverse Your Decision

On the 2006 Census of Population, individuals were given the option to decide if they wanted their information released in 92 years. They were asked to check “yes” or “no” to Question 53 (long form) and/or Question 8 (short form). Approximately 56% of Canadians said “yes”. Therefore 44% said “no” or left the question blank. 44% of Canadians are now lost to those descendants who may wish to search for them in future years. If you are concerned that perhaps you make the wrong decision and would like to have your information available to your descendants, you can now have it reversed. Statistics Canada has provided a “Request to change response to the consent question on the 2006 Census of Population” form. It can be accessed at:
