The Government of Saskatchewan announced
in November 2012 its intention to transition ISC to the private sector. At
that time, it was also announced that personal information would remain within
a government agency. Since the Vital Statistics Registry contains personal
information, it needed to be transferred out of ISC to an agency of the
provincial government. The government subsequently decided that eHealth
Saskatchewan would be the recipient agency.
On May 30, ISC ceased to be a Crown
corporation and became a business corporation wholly-owned by the Government of
Saskatchewan.
