Saskatchewan Newspapers to be put online

The Saskatchewan Archives Board (SAB) in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Saskatchewan History Online (SHO) have entered into a partnership which will see the digitization of the weekly newspapers of over 100 communities in Saskatchewan from the 1890s through to 2010. To coincide with the centennial observances of the Great War, the first stage of the project will focus on the papers published during the years of World War One (1914-1918). This initial stage will see the digitization and web deployment of almost 300,000 pages of newspapers from communities across the province, providing researchers with unique insight to Saskatchewan communities during that fraught period of history.
A celebration for the formal unveiling of the project will be held in the autumn of 2014.
